Turning the Tide
A Carbon Fantasy in One Act by Peppy Barlow
The project was conceived as a novel way of communicating with a wider public over the issue of climate change and carbon reduction, increasing awareness and inspiring further action.
In Spring 2010, OpenSpace commissioned Peppy Barlow to script a play illuminating climate change, which 4 actors then toured around Suffolk. Turning the Tide held an entertaining mirror up to a society, wracked with confusion and guilt over its carbon footprint.
Shona Bendix, SALC chief executive, said: "Many communities are wondering what first step to take on this important issue and this drama is an exciting opportunity for them to come together and be inspired."
Iain Dunnett, manager of the Suffolk - Creating the Greenest County project, said: "The project is supportive of cultural initiatives, such as through art and drama, which promote awareness of the priorities of reducing carbon footprints, adapting to climate change and to retain, enhance and value Suffolk's natural and historic environment."
Spring 2010, we toured 13 Suffolk towns and villages presenting the play Turning the Tide, sparking the debate - what future?
